Overview
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) is currently looking for an energetic and collaborative individual to join our team as a Co-op Student in the Inspection and Enforcement department.
This department is responsible for conducting inspections as authorized to assess regulated entities’ compliance with enforceable provisions. It also leads the OEB’s enforcement activity when non-compliance is identified.
Responsibilities
You will have the opportunity to gain experience in a broad range of areas, which will include the following:
- Develop planning memorandums, procedures, working papers, briefing notes, closing letters and reports
- Assist in gathering information and evidence in conducting inspections of regulated entities and perform follow-up inspections when required.
- Assist in analyzing and assessing regulated entities' compliance against enforceable provisions.
- Assessment of financial and non-financial performance of regulated entities for compliance with the OEB’s legislative and regulatory requirements
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
You will have the opportunity to gain experience in a broad range of areas, which will include the following:
- Strong oral and written communication skills to communicate with internal and external audiences
- Experience performing risk assessments, planning inspections, preparing working papers and drafting reports; and analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate financial and non-financial information, identify and analyze issues
- Strong computer skills are required
- Enrollment in post-secondary studies in Accounting, Finance, or Economics and in pursuit of a CPA, CA designation is desirable. Experience in a public accounting firm is desirable
