Overview

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) is currently looking for a student to join our team as an 8-month term Co-op Student.  This position reports to the manager of Regulatory Accounting and could possibly work with other areas within the Ontario Energy Board. In this role you will have the opportunity to gain work experience that will complement your academic studies.  

The Regulatory Accounting (RA) team are the advisors for regulatory accounting procedures and accounting guidance to OEB staff and regulated utilities. The team reviews the accounting and tax aspects of various rate applications helping ensure the OEB sets just and reasonable rates. Also, the team oversees the cost of capital parameters (including return on equity) to be used by the regulated utilities

Responsibilities

  • Support the accountants in the group for any work related to regulatory accounting
  • Provide other support to any other work at the OEB as needed.

Qualifications

  • Completion of at least one academic year of an accounting, economics, business program registered in a co-op program at a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Demonstrated coursework related to Macroeconomics is an asset.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and compile data, then create visualizations to explain the findings (e.g., graphs and charts)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
