Overview
As the Senior Advisor in Performance Analytics & Reporting, you will be responsible for implementing the OEB’s utility performance analysis and reporting activities. We will count on your skills and experience to be a champion of the OEB’s focus on driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Own and oversee (Manage, validate and derive industry insights based on) the OEB's Reporting and Record Keeping Requirement (RRR) submissions for all provincial Electricity Distributors, Gas Distributors and other Licensees
- Conceptualizes and builds analytical models to improve reporting and industry analytics and lead the RRR stewardship process
- Leads RRR data validation process and gathers input from industry to provide deep insights and actionable recommendations to improve sector performance/efficiency related to performance assessment such as scorecards
- Leads industry consultations, liaise with industry stakeholders and provides strategic advice on the management of the RRR including monitoring the Ontario energy sector and OEB developments
- Identifies relevant issues and provides in-depth analysis associated with financial and non-financial data for regulated entities, guide the work performed by team members including advising on analytics best practices and utility operations
- Provides subject matter expertise to internal and external stakeholders regarding best practices for data gathering and integration with current processes of reporting
- Provides strategic and targeted advice, interrogation of rate applications and Data Products, and supports policy implementation through specialized reporting requirements to other rate/policy and compliance teams at the OEB
- Prepares and/or reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical and project status reports/publications, ensuring information published is accurate and thorough
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Finance; Economics; Mathematics; Data Science; Engineering or a related field
- Must have exceptionally strong oral, written & Interpersonal skills and familiarity with OEB RRR is preferred
- Experience with electric or gas utilities, performance metrics and regulatory considerations including key drivers and challenges is preferred
- Deep understanding of electrical or gas networks and/or operations and equipment is an asset. Accounting and/or financial experience is an asset
- Demonstrated experience in data analytics or machine learning preferred
- 8+ years of relevant experience in the energy sector including performance assessment, industry insights, asset management and system planning
- Demonstrated success leading projects with interdisciplinary teams, aligning stakeholder expectations, and managing project timelines / deliverables
- 5+ years’ experience translating large data sets into actionable information and valuable insights for decision making purposes
- Advanced experience with MS suite is a must, and demonstrated experience with tools –, SQL, VBA, Oracle BI, SAS, R, Tableau, Alteryx is an asset
