Overview

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) is currently looking for an energetic and collaborative student to join our team as an Adjudicative Projects Student.  This position reports to the Deputy Registrar - Projects but will work with other areas within the organization. In this role you will have the opportunity to gain work experience that will complement your academic studies. 

The Adjudicative team drives process innovation and operational change, proactively identifying opportunities to develop and improve the adjudicative process. The Adjudicative Projects team leads strategic project work to improve the processing and disposition of all matters before the OEB, including the implementation of new technology, mapping of business processes, and the digitization of records. This group outreaches with other tribunals and adjudicative stakeholders to identify best practices and emerging issues with respect to adjudication.

Responsibilities

You will have the opportunity to gain experience in a broad range of areas, which will include the following:

  • Assist with adjudicative projects by conducting jurisdictional scans, reviewing policies, identifying relevant issues, and developing recommendations
  • Collaborate with individuals assigned to, or affected by, the projects including the Office of the Registrar, legal department, and Commissioners
  • Contribute to the development of project materials (e.g., schedules, memorandums and presentation decks) to advance work in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Completion of 2nd or 3rd year of an undergraduate or enrollment in a master’s program at a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Demonstrated coursework related to Public Policy or Public Administration is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Motivated independent thinker who can also work in a team
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
